Enclosure in Grovebeg

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Grovebeg holds a fifty-metre circular enclosure beside a larger ringfort, suggesting a settled community rather than a lonely outpost. The land has kept both shapes through centuries of change, inviting imagination about the people who lived between them.
A roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) identified on aerial photographs (ASIAP (175) 9-11, 3 April 2001) and visible on satellite imagery (OS Ortho 2005-2012). A large ringfort (KK027-041----) is located c. 40m to the SE. See attached imagery: KK027-089----_01 aerial photograph (ASIAP (175) 10, 3 April 2001) KK027-089----_02 aerial photograph (ASIAP (175) 11, 3 April 2001) KK027-089----_03 satellite imagery (OS Ortho 2005-2012) Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 4 April 2023
