Enclosure in Greatheath (maryborough East By.)

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Enclosure in Greatheath (maryborough East By.) stands inside the townland locals still call the Gallows Rath, tucked behind the Stand House in County Laois. Whether it marked a boundary, a shrine, a prison garden or a forgotten household yard, the name suggests people once feared what happened there. The enclosure has no clear marker now, but the townland keeps its sharp edge, waiting for someone to walk past the house and ask the ground what it buried.
