Enclosure

What is recorded here

Overlooking the Owenreagh river valley, this ruined enclosure, not marked on the OS maps, is situated on a small ledge on a S facing slope. Internally it measures 10.2m x 9.1m, and its roughly built drystone enclosing wall survives .4m high and 1m wide. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 735. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 29 July 2013
