What is recorded here

No visible trace remained in 1999 despite the 1840 map marking a rath, and a 1997 test pit found nothing at all. The flat-topped hillock in County Clare pasture may have hidden a chamber, a burial or a forgotten boundary marker, yet even the ground refused to give it back. A caravan park now sits beside the vanished mark, carrying forward a place that stopped answering questions.

On a flat-topped hillock in hilly pasture. Hachured as a rath on the OS 1840 6-inch map. Archaeological testing (97E0043) by B. Hodkinson in 1997 failed to produce any archaeological material (Bennett 1998, Excavations 1997, p. 6, No. 19). On inspection in 1999 no visible remains could be seen at ground level.
