What is recorded here
Situated on a very gentle E-facing slope in undulating pastureland. Depicted as an oval enclosure on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map with a roughly N-S field boundary along the edge at W. The site has been levelled, however, there is a faint suggestion of an enclosure (diam. c. 36m N-S) defined by a very subtle scarp and kink in the field boundary forming the W edge of the site. The edge of the site not visible in the E sector.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
