Enclosure in Coole Demesne

On a natural rise in woodland in Coole Demesne. This oval enclosure (33m N-S; 28m E-W) is defined by a well-preserved and very well-built moss-covered stone wall (int. H 1.85m; ext. H 1.25; Wth 2.0m). It is breached by gaps at S (Wth 4m) and SSW (Wth 2m) as well as a V-shaped gap (basal Wth 0.5m; overall Wth 2.5m) at NNE. Other small intermittent breaches are due to fallen trees. The interior, which is covered with trees, slopes down very distinctively in the N sector, toward the NNE. There is also a very gradual slope from the centre, towards the SW. Collapsed field walls radiate from the external wall-face at E and W. There is a woodland trackway 10m to the W.
