Enclosure in Coolbane is a roughly circular ditched place about thirty metres across, standing beside a rectangular field and ninety metres from a ringfort in County Cork. It is the kind of address where human life stopped being a guess: a fence line, an entrance to the east, and a neighbourhood of fields rather than a solitary mark. The western edge may have been cut back when the field fence took its place, which means the enclosure still shapes the land instead of disappearing beneath it.
