Carroll's Fort hides beneath a field clearance mound beside a Cloncarban stream, its original shape buried under dumped soil rather than lost to time. The 1838 OS Field Name Books still carry the local name, proving people recognized the site as a fort before modern agriculture smoothed it into an ordinary bank. What is missing is not imagination but visibility: the enclosure may still exist underneath the mound, waiting for someone to remove the material that conceals it.
