Enclosure in Boulerdah

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Ua Riain recorded two 'lisses' in a field called Parkalour (1927). Neither are marked on the OS maps. The W example is known locally as a 'ring'. It consists of a barely perceptible bank of earth averaging 2.5m in width and enclosing a level area measuring 12.5m N-S x 13m E-W. The second example (KE070-116----) now levelled, was located 27m to E. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 706. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 29 July 2013
