Enclosure in Barnaviddaun North

Enclosure

What is recorded here

In tillage. An oval enclosure (diam. c. 60m NW-SE; c. 55m NE-SE) indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map, with a road running NW-SE across the N sector. On the 1900-01 revision of this map neither the enclosure or the road are indicated, which suggests both had been levelled by this date. The enclosure is not visible at ground level. The fosse of the enclosure (dims. 52m NW-SE; 40m NE-SW) is visible as a cropmark on satellite imagery (Google Earth imagery date 14 July 2018). See attached: KK029-010----_01 satellite imagery (Google Earth imagery date 14 July 2018) Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 7 March 2022
