Enclosure in Barnagowlane East

In rough hill grazing, on a NW-facing slope with views W to Bantry Bay and NW across the Mealagh River valley. A rectangular area (7m N-S; 4m E-W) is defined by the remains of a roughly constructed stone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.4m). Rubble is scattered in the interior, which slopes down to the N. A hut site (CO106-091---) adjoins the enclosure at S and a second hut site (CO106-091002-) lies c. 40m to the SSW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
