Enclosure in Ballysampson

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape. The cropmark of a rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 40m N-S; c. 40m E-W) is visible on aerial photographs (CUCAP: AIC 45; BGF 58). It is defined by a single fosse feature but it is not visible at ground level in a cereal crop. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 3 January 2014
