Enclosure in Ballynacloghy

Circa 7m to the SSW of a cashel (GA102-005----). Known locally as 'St. Sorney's Bed', this circular area (int. diam. 5.7m) is defined by a much-collapsed double-faced wall (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.3m; Wth at E 2.2m; Wth at W 1m) composed of large limestone flagstones. There is a possible entrance gap at E. According to McCaffrey (1952, 173, no. 3a; 1956, 189), 'local people claim that a "small covered passage built of stones" resembling a small Man-made underground passage is present in the interior, now entirely covered by earth'. This feature was not visible as the interior was strewn with boulders and overgrown with bramble. Some 60m to the SE is St Sorney's Well (GA102-005002-).
