Enclosure in Ballycotteen South is a 25m stone and earth ring on a Clare hilltop, mapped since 1840 and still called a fort locally. Its banks stand only 0.2m high, yet they block the southern view and force the eye back inward. The centre dips slightly, as if the land forgot what it once held.

In pasture on a hilltop with good views, especially to the S, c. 45m SE of a stream. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps and known locally as the site of a fort. An enclosure (diam. c. 25m) defined by a series of stone and earth banks (Wth 3-4m; H 0.2m), some forming a rough C shape. Along the S and W of the monument are low piles of field clearance rubble.
