What is recorded here
Enclosure in Baile An Tsagairt (tc Na Gleannta) was a circular univallate fort in County Kerry, Ireland, recorded on the first edition Ordnance Survey map but no longer visible. Local information connects a man-made underground passage to this site or one of its neighbours, leaving the exact chamber uncertain. The loss of the rampart does not erase the shape; it sharpens the mystery of what the ground still hides.
The circular univallate enclosure marked on the 1st edition of the OS map no longer survives. A Man-made underground passage was discovered in either this fort or KE053-030---- or KE053-032---- (local information).
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 606. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
