Hyndman's or Hymen's Fort in Ballymuckvea, County Antrim, is an enclosure whose age and purpose have slipped from memory. The name itself is uncertain, splitting between two spellings as if the place refused to be captured fully. Whatever it was, it stood large enough to mark on a map and strange enough to keep two names alive.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ENCLOSURE: HYNDMAN'S or HYMEN'S FORT. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
