Emma Donoghue

Emma Donoghue, born October 1969 in County Dublin, Ireland, is the youngest of eight children and the daughter of academic Denis Donoghue. She became a Canadian citizen in 2004 after meeting Christine Roulston at Girton College, Cambridge, where her thesis explored friendship in 18th-century fiction. Her novel Room won international praise and was adapted into a film for which she received an Academy Award nomination.
