Embanked enclosure

Marked as a rectangular enclosure with two banks or moats (ext. dims. c. 40m E-W; c. 35m N-S) only on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6 inch map, and situated towards the top of a SE-facing slope. It is not visible at ground level in a cereal crop, but the E moat or fosse is visible on digital aerial photographs (WX035-041_1, to _4) taken in 2006, and an outline of it can be seen on an OSI series of aerial photographs (1995). It may be a moated site (Barry 1977, 225, WX 92). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
