Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cartron (athlone South By., Rockhill Ed), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the crest of a SE-facing hill slope and preserves a circular grass-covered area bounded by a scrub-covered earthen bank. A narrow eastern entrance opens the ring, while an outer fosse extends from the WSW to the NNW. Rath (RO045-178----) lies about 110m to the W.
On the crest of the SE-facing slope of a hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.9m NW-SE; 32.8m NE-SW) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 3.2-4.3m; int. H 0.15-0.9m; ext. H 0.6-0.9m), with an outer fosse (Wth of top 3.9m; Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.5m) WSW-NNW. There is an entrance (Wth 1.5m) at E. Rath (RO045-178----) is c. 110m to the W.
