Embanked enclosure

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ardnaglug, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appeared faintly on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map as a circular embanked enclosure about 50 to 55 metres across, situated on a slight rise 80 metres south of a large bog and 400 metres from a bog to the southwest. The earthworks are no longer visible at ground level in reclaimed pasture, though they were probably a rath.
