What is recorded here
Granton Castle survived the loss of its main towers only because its dovecot and boundary wall still stand beside West Shore Road. The 17th-century structures turned a ruined estate into a working kitchen garden, feeding people with eggs and meat long after grand halls collapsed. They remind us that survival often belongs to small useful things rather than proud monuments.
