Edinburgh Castle, Great Hall stood as a medieval banqueting hall where kings and guests may have eaten, drank and performed before leaving the stone empty. The chamber still belongs to the castle ridge above the city, waiting for people to imagine candles, music and the weight of ceremonial life inside its quiet frame.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Edinburgh Castle, Great Hall as Banqueting Hall (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Edinburgh Castle, Great Hall was built in the late 16th century under the orders of James VI of Scotland. It is important as a key surviving example of Renaissance architecture in Scotland and was used for royal banquets and state functions.
