What is recorded here

Kill is a 70-metre circular enclosure on the crest of a pasture hill in Kilcullen South, its eastern half holding a smaller rectangular enclosure and a possible underground passage while the western half marks a burial ground. The townland name translates as St. Cuileann's Church, and the neighbouring glen still carries that identity in Glennakilla. Sheep may still walk across the faint cropmark that completes the circle, unaware they are grazing the edge of a Christian shrine and older death.

In pasture, on crest of hill. Large circular enclosure (diam. c. 70m); defined N->SSE by E side of subrectangular enclosure (9180); SSE->WNW by faint cropmark visible in aerial photograph (CASAP). Subrectangular enclosure (9180) and possible Man-made underground passage (9052) in E half; site of burial ground (9342) and possible burial (9378) in W half. According to Hartnett (1939, 192), field and enclosure (9180) both known as 'Kill'. Townland name translates 'Cill Chuilinn - St. Cuileann's Church' (O'Donoghue 1986, 283) and glen immediately to W of site named 'Glennakilla' on OS 6-inch maps.
