Inis Oírr, County Galway, a subrectangular ecclesiastical enclosure measured roughly forty-eight by forty metres, its shadow preserved in the later graveyard wall around Cill Ghobnait. A vertical crag split the interior into two levels, three metres apart, suggesting the land itself resisted easy burial or prayer. The church stood in the higher northeast quadrant while leachta and bullauns scattered elsewhere, as if the island kept several kinds of sacred memory separate rather than mixed.

The drystone wall that defines the graveyard (GA120-002002-) associated with ‘Cill Ghobnait’, the church (GA120-002001-) located in its NE quadrant, may mirror the line of an earlier, roughly subrectangular ecclesiastical enclosure (c. 48m NW-SE; 40m NE-SW). The interior is uneven and the ground level in the SW sector is c. 3m higher than that to the NE. An almost vertical natural crag separates the two sections. Apart from the church, three leachta (GA120-002007-, GA120-002008-, GA120-002009-) and two bullauns (GA120-002004-, GA120-002005-) are associated.
