East Orchard Castle is a ruined manor house near St Athan, built between 1399 and 1413 by the Berkerolles family after earlier destruction by Llywelyn Bren in 1316. Its rock walls still hold visible windows and fireplaces, while the barn remains better preserved than the rest of the property. The site was dismantled from 1756 after the Stradling family sold it, leaving behind a dovecote, chapel and bridge tied to the River Thaw.
