Earthwork in Raheennamadra

In pasture, a possible ditch barrow (LI041-013014-) and a barrow (LI041-013015-) lie 48m and 45m to the NW respectively. Not marked on historic OSi maps. Identified as Site IV by Stenberger (1966, 39) and described as one of ‘two barely distinguishable ring-shaped structures (LI041-013014-), one on each side of the stream which here runs from south to north’, and classified as a possible ‘dwelling site’ (No. IV) that measured approx. 25m in diameter. Monument is visible as a raised circular-shaped platform (diam. c. 22m) defined by a scarp with fosse, intersected at NW and SE by a relic watercourse running roughly E-W visible on OSi orthophotograph taken between 2005-12.
