What is recorded here

Earthwork in Newtown (coshlea By.) is a vanished circular mark in County Limerick, visible only in a 1984 aerial photograph taken for a gas pipeline. It lies 125m south of a boundary stream and 130m west of a holy well, yet no surface trace remains on later images. The ground may have swallowed the shape, or the shape may have been a shadow mistaken for a wall. Either way, the place keeps its secret in soil, water and absence.

In reclaimed pasture 125m S of a stream that marks the townland boundary with Raheen. Holy Well (LI049-047----) lies 130m to E. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Potential site identified as a circular feature during examination of aerial photographs (BGE 1/5000, 2581, No. 375) taken 03/11/1984 on the Bórd Gáis Éireann Curraleigh West-Limerick gas pipeline.
