What is recorded here
Deerpark North castle in County Clare, Ireland. Hachures marked an earthwork on the 1922 map, but inspection showed cairn material belonging to the castle rather than a separate monument. The line on the page became a boundary of the castle itself, not a new place at all.
Listed as ‘Earthwork’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Hachures on the 1922 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, interpreted in the compilation of the SMR and RMP as an earthwork, were found on inspection, to be cairn material associated with Deerpark North castle (CL043-017002-) and not to represent a separate archaeological monument.
