Earthwork in Bohola

Earthwork

What is recorded here

Located in an expanse of wet rush-grown pasture. There is a rath (MA071-079001-) on rising ground on the SE margins of the area. Listed in the RMP (1997) as ‘Earthwork (s) –possible’ on the basis of features visible in an aerial photo (GSI M 691 -0; Roll 217, pr. 33). Remnants of rectilinear field divisions and field drains traverse this area on NNE-SSW and WNW–ESE axes. Relict cultivation ridges on a roughly E–W axis can be seen in parts. These features appear to be related to relatively recent land reclamation and agricultural activity. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 August 2021
