What is recorded here

No human eye recorded the circular scar in Baurnagurrahy until aircraft cameras passed above Limerick pasture in 1984. That sudden visibility did not make the place young, clever or exceptional. It only changed the distance between ignorance and knowledge. The earthwork may have waited for nobody, yet human attention gave shape to what darkness had hidden.

In pasture on E bank of River Aherlow. Not Depicted on the historic OSi maps. Identified as a possible enclosure on Bórd Gáis Éireann Curraleigh West-Limerick gas pipeline aerial photographs (Strip map 3, site 3/1) taken 03/11/1984. Visible as a circular-shaped depression (diam. c. 25m) on Google Earth orthoimage dated 14/09/2019. Doubtful antiquity, earthwork may be the result of post-1700 quarrying rather than the remains of an archaeological enclosure. See attached Gas pipeline aerial image and Google Earth orthoimages.
