Ballyfauskeen earthwork: in pasture 45m E of a local road, with a fulacht fia 135m SW. It resisted every older survey and appeared only in 1984 gas-pipeline photography, as if the land had been waiting for a new kind of witness. Perhaps it is a natural hollow, or perhaps it is a forgotten shape from before records.

In pasture, 45m E of a local road. Fulacht fia (LI049-196----) lies 135m to the SW. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Identified as an earthwork on Bórd Gáis Éireann Curraleigh West-Limerick gas pipeline aerial photographs (BGE 1/5000; 2612, No. 228) taken 03/11/1984. Possible earthwork visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. Could be the remains of a natural hollow depression rather then and the remains of an archaeological monuments. See attached BGE aerial photographs and Google Earth orthoimages.
