Freestanding single-bay three-stage lighthouse, sanctioned 1830; built 1836; extant 1838, on a circular plan. Damaged, 1850. Damaged, 1861. Destroyed, 1894. Truncated, 1895. In ruins, 1916. One of a pair. Slate hung battered walls on cut-granite chamfered plinth. Square-headed door opening with concealed dressings. Square-headed window openings with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings with no fittings surviving. Set in shared grounds on outcrop with limewashed battered boundary wall to perimeter.
The abbreviated shell of lighthouse erected as one of a pair (including 31300201) representing an important component of the early nineteenth-century maritime built heritage of Contae Mhaigh Eo [north County Mayo].
