Square-headed window openings with painted cut-limestone sills, two-over-two timber sash windows having some one-over-one timber sash windows throughout, and fixed-pane timber window to ground floor end bay incorporating cast-iron post box, c.1925. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door having overlight. Rendered shopfront, c.1900, to right ground floor with pilasters (some paired), timber boarded shutters to display window, tongue-and-groove timber panelled door, fascia having raised lettering, decorative consoles, and moulded cornice. Square-headed door opening to end bay with timber boarded door. Interior with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Road fronted.
A well-composed modest-scale house retaining the original form and massing together with most of the historic fabric both to the exterior and to the interior, thereby making a positive impression on the historic character of the locality. Indicated as a post office on archival editions of the Ordnance Survey a finely-detailed shopfront exhibiting high quality craftsmanship has survived the decommissioning of the site, thereby identifying the artistic design merit of the composition.
