Dunvegan Castle is a cliff-top stronghold on the Isle of Skye where the MacLeod family still lives beside a green flag said to belong to the fairies. Children run through its rooms hunting fifteen hidden keys, while seals patrol the water below the ancient stone. The castle has watched the western sea for centuries, keeping its own strange company and waiting for visitors to discover what it still conceals.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dunvegan Castle as Steamship (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dunvegan Castle was the historic seat of the Macleod clan, built and held by them from at least the 13th century. It is important as one of the oldest continuously inhabited castles in Scotland and a key site in Scottish clan history.
