Dunnottar Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dunnottar Castle as No Class (event) (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dunnottar Castle was originally built by the See of Brechin in the 12th century and later held by the Keith family from the 14th century. It is important as a historically significant stronghold associated with Scottish resistance to English rule and as the site where the Honours of Scotland were hidden during the 17th century.
