Drummellan Castle stood in the valley of the Water of Girvan until demolition removed it during the 19th Century. It belonged to a lineage stretching through Quentin Kennedy of Drummellane and later Sir Alexander Craufurd, whose family moved lands, titles and blood across Ayrshire. The castle is gone, but the valley keeps the shape of what it held: a private house made visible by the men and women who lived under its roof.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Drummellan Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
