Doireann Ní Bhriain

Doireann Ní Bhriain was born in Dublin in 1952 and began her broadcasting career at eight years old, reading stories beside her mother on the radio. She later joined RTÉ in 1972, where she became one of the first Irish women to lead current affairs, eventually presenting the landmark programme Women Today and the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. After twenty years with the broadcaster, she left in 1993 to become an independent producer, carrying the voice and energy of that early childhood into a life of teaching, writing, and shaping radio for others.
