Dermot Ahern

Dermot Ahern was born in Dundalk, County Louth, in 1955, the same town where he would later represent Louth in Dail Eireann from 1987 to 2011. He grew up there, attended Marist College, and carried that familiar coast into national politics, serving as Minister for Justice and Law Reform from 2008 to 2011. The place did not need to be discovered; it gave him a name, a constituency and a life in public service.
