Sussex Road in Dublin 2 became a scene of fatal violence when Brian Murphy, an eighteen-year-old student, was kicked to death outside Club Anabel in the early hours of 31 August 2000. A coroner later declared the act unlawful killing, yet criminal convictions for manslaughter collapsed on appeal and no one served time for taking his life.
