What is recorded here
David van Zanten was born in Dublin in 1982, yet he gave his whole adult life to Scottish football after leaving Celtic at twenty-one. He helped St Mirren win promotion in 2006, survived a difficult year at Hibernian, and returned to St Mirren for more than one hundred thirty appearances before playing for Dumbarton and Airdrieonians. A boy from Ireland became a familiar name in Paisley, Edinburgh and Greenock, proving that birthplace does not limit where loyalty can lead.
