Dr David Lyall was a Scottish naval surgeon, botanist, and explorer known for his extensive plant collections and contributions to the study of Pacific flora. He is remembered for his scientific expeditions and the significant herbarium he compiled, particularly from his travels in New Zealand and the South Pacific.
