What is recorded here

In graveyard (CO073-05101-), fragmentary remains of rectangular church (int.: 17m E-W; 7m N-S). Very little of N and S walls survive; featureless W wall ivy-clad; narrow central window ope in E wall, missing light, but rounded arch over inside of embrasure framed by cut-stone voissours. Brunicardi (1913, 23-4) noted wall press and piscina in SE corner but these now obscured by burials. Interior crowded with burials, some recent. Parish church of Currykippane in repair until 1639 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 66) but abandoned by 1693 (Brunicardi ibid.). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
