Crossmore

Located on moorland overlooking northerly cliffs on Inishmurray. Visible from the Cashel. A small drystone enclosure measures 3.66 wide (east/west) within walls 0.6 m thick. The walls are slightly flattened so that the enclosure appears subrectangular on plan. There is an entrance in the south, 0.65 m wide. Within the east arc of the enclosing wall, a large, undecorated flat slab stands c. 0.2 m proud of the wall top. Outwith the drystone wall is a second enclosing element. A low bank – 1.5 m wide and 0.3 m high – surrounds the drystone wall. The overall diameter of the bank is 7.5 m. There is no visible break. The roughly coursed stonework, but absence of peripheral rubble, suggests the monument has been intermittently rebuilt. The low outer bank may be the primary enclosing element. Within the enclosure is a leacht (SL001-009002-).
