The Cross Street Aqueduct at Froncysyllte was built between 1796 and 1805 as part of the Ellesmere Canal, later incorporated into the Shropshire Union Canal system. Designed by Thomas Telford and engineered by William Jessop, it is a notable example of early 19th-century civil engineering and remains significant as a key structure on the Llangollen Canal route.
