Cross-slab (present location) in Cork City

Found c. 1930 on early ecclesiastical site of Cill Lachtaín (CO069-032----) and donated to UCC Museum (Power 1931, 59). Now in possession of Cork Public Museum. Roughly lozenge-shaped slab (L 0.68m; 0.35m x 0.08m), with simple Greek cross, enclosed by a circle, incised on one face. Compiled by: Archaeological Survey Unit, UCC. Probably dates to the early Christian period (5th–9th centuries AD), given its association with an early ecclesiastical site. It may have functioned as a memorial or waymarker, and its cross may reflect Christian adaptation of earlier symbolic traditions.
