Cross-slab in Sevenchurches OR Camaderry

Located: 7.1m W of W gable of St Mary's Church (WI023-003001-). Two slabs with Latin crosses in false relief (Leask 1950 d (WI023-003003-) and e (WI023-003009-)). Described by Leask (1950, 43) as a ‘rough erect slab, fixed in a stone slab socket, 2 feet 11 inches [0.88m] high, 1 foot 4 inches [0.4m] wide by 4 inches [0.1m] thick, on the E. face a Latin cross in relief, the arms tilted slightly upwards. It is about 20 feet[6m] W. of the church’. Date likely to the early medieval period, based on the style of Latin crosses. Such cross-slabs were often associated with Christian burial sites or waymarkers, reflecting early Christian practice in the region.
