Cross-slab in Inishmurray

Within an ecclesiastical enclosure (SL001-001001-), located above the doorway in Templenatinny church (SL001-001011-). Slab (L: <1.01 m, W: 0.38 m) reused as lintel with two areas of carving, placed axially at the extremities of its visible underside. At the north is an incised cross each arm of which is decorated with a bar. This is contained within an outline cross of similar design, with curved angles (total area 0.39 m by 0.295 m). Part of what is probably a smaller outline cross is visible at the south end of the lintel. Date likely to the early medieval period, given its ecclesiastical context and reuse as a lintel. The cross-slab may have originally served as a memorial or ritual marker, later incorporated into the church structure, reflecting Christian adaptation of earlier sacred sites.
