Inis Oírr holds a cross-slab atop its altar, marked by a Latin cross with wedge-shaped terminals. The letters ST and G appeared later, perhaps naming Saint Gobnet, while the original cross waited patiently for meaning.

A cross-inscribed slab has been erected on top of the altar in the church (GA120-002001-). It bears a Latin cross with wedge-shaped terminals. The incision of the letters ST and G on the slab, presumably meaning Saint Gobnet, appear to be a more recent addition (information from Dr J. Waddell). This cross-slab, likely dating to the early medieval period (6th–10th century), may have functioned as a Christian memorial or ecclesiastical marker, with the letters "ST" and "G" possibly referring to Saint Go, a local or regional saint. Such stones often carried religious or commemorative significance within early Irish Christian communities.
