Fisher (2014) recorded a broken garnet mica-schist cross-slab fragment in rubble beside Cell B on High Island, County Galway. The small damaged slab bears an incised groove that may have formed part of a linear cross, though its edges no longer give that shape away. It lies near the clochan and church like a forgotten marker, waiting for someone to imagine what it once pointed to.

Recorded by Fisher (2014, 212-13, no. 26, Fig. 7.5), this broken garnet mica-schist cross-slab (H 0.23m; Wth 0.02m; T 0.04m) was found in rubble to the NW of ‘Cell B’, the clochan (GA021-026013-) to the E of the church (GA021-026014-) on High Island. The fragment is damaged on two sides. It bears an incised groove that may have been part of a linear cross but the slab is too damaged to be certain. A rounded notch is visible on one edge. Probably dating to the early medieval period, this cross-slab may have been part of a Christian monument or ecclesiastical site associated with the nearby clochan. Its small size and fragmented state suggest it may have been reused or discarded during later building activity.
