What is recorded here

Half a cross, no more. The top and bottom are gone, one arm snapped clean off, leaving a stub where a hand should reach. What remains stands forty-one centimetres tall in dark garnet schist, buried in rubble beside a small stone cell on High Island. Someone broke it or time did. Either way, the cross stopped pointing upward and became a threshold, its missing ends continuing the gesture somewhere beyond sight.

Recorded by Fisher (2014, 220, no. 49, Fig. 7.8), this incomplete undecorated cruciform cross-slab (H 0.41m; Wth 0.25m; T 0.03m) of garnet mica-schist was found in rubble to the SW of ‘Cell B’, the clochan (GA021-026013-) to the E of the church (GA021-026014-) on High Island.
